چکیده

In this paper, a joint-distribution algorithm, mainly, the evolutionary spectrum (ES) for audio signal discrimination is proposed and discussed. The purpose of audio signal discrimination is to build two different libraries: speech library and music library, from a stream of sounds. In general, the classification algorithms can be divided into three approaches: time-domain, frequency-domain, and time–frequency domain approaches. The first two approaches were discussed thoroughly in literature; however, the third approach has not yet been tested thoroughly for this type of discrimination. As audio signals are considered non-stationary, in general, the time or frequency-domain approach alone may fail in reflecting the time-varying behaviour of such signals correctly. Therefore, in this paper, the ES is proposed to solve this type of classification problem. To show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, some simulation and comparisons with classical methods are done, where the Colombia SMD database is used.

Design of a High Range, High Efficiency Spread Spectrum Transmitter for Audio Communication Applications

This work proposes a direct sequence spread spectrum transmitter with high transmission range and efficiency for audio signals. It is shown that by choosing high process gain for spread spectrum signal the data could reach a range of 55km in the 2.4GHz ISM band. By employing a light modulation scheme, we have a relaxed SNR requirement for having a low bit error rate (BER) which translates to re...

A Robust Feature Extraction Algorithm for Audio Fingerprinting

In this paper, we present a new feature extraction algorithm which can generate robust and reliable feature in a fingerprint system. This algorithm is referred to as weighted ASF (WASF). The feature in our algorithm is extracted based on a MPEG-7 descriptor-Audio Spectrum Flatness (ASF) and Human Auditory System (HAS). It also applies several effective filters to improve the feature robustness ...

Analysis of two-channel generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) with post-filtering

In this paper, we analyze a two-channel generalized sidelobe canceller with post-filtering in nonstationary noise environments. The post-filtering includes detection of transients at the beamformer output and reference signal, a comparison of their transient power, estimation of the signal presence probability, estimation of the noise spectrum, and spectral enhancement for minimizing the mean-s...

Pathologies cardiac discrimination using the Fast Fourir Transform (FFT) The short time Fourier transforms (STFT) and the Wigner distribution (WD)

This paper is concerned with a synthesis study of the fast Fourier transform (FFT), the short time Fourier transform (STFT and the Wigner distribution (WD) in analysing the phonocardiogram signal (PCG) or heart cardiac sounds.     The FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) can provide a basic understanding of the frequency contents of the heart sounds. The STFT is obtained by calculating the Fourier tran...
